Thoughts on Singularity

Singularity could be man’s key to immortality but it could also lead to the demise of the human race. The basic premise; technology is growing at an exponential pace. Computers are getting more and more powerful, with the growth of this CPU processing power in approximately 10-15 years we will already have computers more powerful than the human brain. At this point it is predicted that we will have Artificial Intelligence smart enough to become self-ware.  This awareness basically means, that the AI recognizes itself as a man made computer and can determine the difference between a human and another computer.  The implications for this moment in time are momentous as a robot will be able to self improve itself with little to no input from a human.  This will lead to a BOOM in new technologies and smarter AI. Nano technology will be far more advanced then by today’s standards,  humans would be able to upload their memories into a machine and in essence becoming immortal.

We are not too far from this prediction, at most a few  decades. Although this might lead to our immortality it could also very well lead into the destruction of the human race.  Ray Kurzweil is an inventor, futurist, and the mastermind behind the singularity.  This video gives more insight on this exciting new possibility.

Sometimes you just want to hate

LOL IPAD- We love to hate you baby

LOL IPAD

Everyone has been talking about the ipad lately.

And the general consensus is that you either love it or hate it. Its basically coming down to preference, and that’s even if you want to spend 500 bucks for merely the base model.  I’m of course not an Apple fan girl, I’m a Google whore by nature. Too me and many other ipad haters, its just a device thats receives too much hype with little to no creative. As essentially the Ipad is just a giant iphone/itouch. Yes it creates a new experience while reading ebooks but it doesn’t necessarily push the envelope so that I HAVE to experience it like the itouch.

Of course hype will be hype and I try to be as unbiased as possible. I equally hate Apple as much as I hate Microsoft, although I admit I do enjoy the new toys and rival competition. While listening to twit they suggested that ‘Sometimes you just want to hate’.  Because if we didn’t hate sometimes, your left with mediocrity.
